Can a Canadian get a Job in the USA easily?

Post Sat Sep 25, 2004 12:57 pm

Hi all

I'm really new to this forum... about 5 minutes and counting.

I'm looking at developing my banking career and I really feel that the US Market would serve me the most justice.

I completed a 2 year Financial Services Diploma from Douglas College in 1999 and have been working for the same institution since 1998.

I don't have a degree, and want to know if a degree is necessary to get a job or even apply for work in the US?

can someone steer me in the right direction?
Who won the Hockey World Cup this year... who could it be? hmmmmm

I worked in the US for 6 years on a TN status visa (something to do with NAFTA. There is a list of 20-30 professions that are eligible for this visa, I don't know if you profession is one).

Do you have any status in the states? Otherwise it will be very hard for you to work there, there are plenty of qualitfied yanks in the financial field. Does the company you work for have a US based office? That might be the easiest way to get in.

Good luck!

I spoke with my immigration lawyer last week regarding this subject. According to her, a 4yr degree in your field is mandatory for eligibility. You might want to call a local immigration lawyer to confirm this though.
