Can I have more than 1 TN Visa

Post Thu Oct 18, 2007 9:10 pm

Is it possible to have more than 1 TN Visa with separate companies?

If so is it hard to get the second TN, or do I need additional documentation of some sort?

Another side question - If I already have a TN Visa, Can I renew it without going to the border? If so, How?

Yes you can have more than one TN-1 status. Since TNs are employer-specific, you need one for each employer.

Its not hard to get a second TN, make sure you qualify and you're prepared.

Here's some information to assist you:
Common TN Mistakes to Avoid

Also, to renew - you can:
1. goto the border with your application, similar to how you originally obtained your TN Visa.

2. Renew by Mail using Form I-129 (you may be able to e-file this)
Here's the Govt site for the form and e-file info:

Good luck

Thanks very much for the replies. What is the turnaround time for renewing by mail? This is probably a more convenient option for me, but I want to make sure I have enough time.

You have to apply from within the US for renewal by mail. It's generally not recommended because you aren't there in person if they have any questions, if you go to the border and there's anything they need cleared up, you can answer in person. If you get turned down for renewal by mail then you have to go to the border anyway. Plus you're at the mercy of bureaucracy.
