Can my baby get Canadian citizenship?

Post Mon Jan 15, 2007 2:00 pm

I hope someone knows the answer to this.
I am a Canadian living in El Paso Texas. I am married to an American citizen and have been a permanent resident here for a little over 3 years. My wife and I will be starting a family soon and I was wondering if there was anyway that I could have canadian citizenship for my baby and how I would go about doing that?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I'm pretty sure that if one parent has Canadian citizenship then any children born to that parent can apply for Canadian citizenship. Check with the embassy or consulate in your city or do a online search for "Canadian Embassy - texas" and see what comes up.
If you take a chance sometimes good things happen, sometimes bad things happen. But if you don't take a chance nothing happens.

Yes you can. I just had a baby in PA also. You have to contact your local consulate and they will send you the forms to fill. You need this certificate to get your baby a Canadian passport.
