Can my Wife come to Interview? in Montreal

Post Tue Jul 21, 2009 4:31 am

HI All

I have an interview date to go to Montreal. My Wife is a US Citizien who has sponsored me. Everything looks Ok and I got my letter. My letter only states my name.

I am a Canadian Citizien fyi.

Should I have my wife come down from USA and go to Montreal with me for the Interview? Even though the rules in the document provided by the NVC state that only the name of the person mentioned in the doco should be there. Which is me.

fyi
On website as I was going through reading immigration stuff. It does also state that if I want, i can have my attorney or a US Citizien accompany me if i want or a interpretor. but I don't really need any of this.

Just wanted peoples feedback for those who have gone through this.

any suggestion / tip is helpful

Thanks

Just go yourself. No need to have your wife travel.

ahd my CR-1 interview in mtl and it was the easiest interview ever! lucky if it lasted 10 minutes and most of that was the interviewer looking over my paperwork, she was very friendly and laughed a fair bit! many do not bring their spouse to Mtl as it is very short and usually painless. if ya want to make it a holiday, go for it, BUT it is not a requirement!

If your going for a cr-1 (IR-1) lots of info at visajourney.com and if y alook at the top right of VJ, you will see a EMABSSY reviews, select that and go from there!! or stop by hte CANADA forum 9scrol down on VJ) and ask ur question there, OR in the search button onVJ type in Montreal reviews! keep in mind that Mtl no longer gives u the visa the same day or next! U can always ask,and thry can 9and usually) say no, but a few have gotten lucky! U have to provide them with a pre-paid envelope, should be in ur instructions!! Most of ur time at the interview is spent waiting! U will be called up a few times to verify paperwork, then the interview. Asked me very basic questions such as, what i did for work, what my wife did, my plans for work in the USA, how we met, and that was about it. very painless! U go thru airport like security at the consulate, so NO big bags, eclectronics of any kind!! I put my docs in a plastic accordion binder. And the elevator opens at the REAR,lol Most hover around the front, lol, but it opens from the rear, lol best of luck
