Can you return to Canada immediately after getting a TN?

Quick Question - I have read that you can apply for a TN up to about 10 days before the start date of the job with the US employer. Does that mean you are allowed to go to the border, apply for the TN, then return to Canada for a few days to pack up - then cross to the USA to start work?

Yes, you can do this (I have done it at the Peace Bridge POE twice) but they don't postdate the start date of your TN on your I-94 for the date on your offer letter. It is dated for the day you apply, so you technically "lose" some days.
