Canada before 1982

Post Tue Mar 16, 2010 4:37 pm

Hello , Can anyone telll me this.......I was born in 1957 in Canada, and at that time we were still under the British crown,,,the Queen was our Queen also,,,,and we did not completely sever that relationship with Britian until 1982. So.....does that mean I was born a British subject, and does that make a difference when I apply for a Visa to the UK?
Thank you.

None of what you are talking about has any bearing on you being british citizen. Either your father was born in UK and you are a UK citizen, or he was not and thus you are not.

The constitutional change in 1982 changed nothing in terms of cdns being british subject.
