Canada Day 2009 - London

Post Fri May 01, 2009 12:35 pm

Hi Everyone,

Have just moved back to London from abroad and have been shocked to find out that the big Canada Day street party outside the Maple Leaf in London is no longer occurring due to security concerns.

I see that last year and the year before at Trafalgar Square there was a big party.

Does anyone know what's happening this year? My partner and I are getting married July 1 and we wanted to then move the wedding party over to the Canada Day celebrations.

The website for the Canada Day party last year gives no indications about anything for 2009...So, any suggestions, heads up would be great.

Thanks in advance

Canada Day Celebration at Trafalgar Square

Wednesday 1 July 2009, 12:00pm to 9:30pm, Trafalgar Square, London, UK

Canada takes over Trafalgar Square on the 1st of July to celebrate its national day. Don’t miss one of London’s most exciting free public events. From 12:00pm to 10:00pm come and experience Canada’s music, comedy, sport, food & drink, culture, and travel.

The day will be a wonderful celebration of Canadian culture in London. The schedule for the day is packed with entertainment, including a street hockey tournament featuring NHL alumni for the sports fans, and several performances from up and coming Canadian musicians and some of Canada’s top comedians.

There will also be a Canadian BBQ with Canadian beer, temporary tattoos and stickers for the kids, great prizes and much more. For all those who are interested in visiting Canada to see its wonders first hand, will be a Canadian Tourism Pavilion.
