Post Wed Jun 27, 2007 10:17 am

Hi, I am a Canadian living in Dublin, Ireland for the past 6 years. I'd really like to celebrate Canada Day - does anyone know of anything happening?

Hiya. I've been here for six years myself and ask myself the same question every year! If you find out let me know. The Canadian Embassy may have something on but I haven't heard of anything.

Hey; I've been living here 6 years now also, and always miss out on Canada day! I remember one year, however, that the Australian pub on Parnell Street, right next to the cineworld had a Canada day celebration. I don't know if it's still on though.

Canada Day

The bar on Parnell is called the Woolshed, it is next to the movie theatre and they are doing something for Canada Day. I will be going with some fellow Canadians, I can't wait to see everyone!

I suggest the Woolshed, its basically the only thing I've heard about.

Do you know where Parnell is? What part of Canada are you from?

Missed the Party

Post Sun Jul 01, 2007 3:30 pm

Bummer. I was feeling really crappy today because it's my first Canada day away from home. My husband and I just relocated to Dublin Ireland last September and I found out about this party a little too late. Maybe next year. Please let me know if anyone is getting together to watch hockey in the future.

Cheers,

Christine

Hi there,

I'm thinking about moving to Ireland on a one year working visa for (hopefully)professional work experience. I have already done this in the UK but at the time just worke in bars/restaurants.

My question is, has anyone had experience in Ireland in getting professional jobs? ue to me obviously not being a permanent resident or citizen, would this pose a problem for me?

Also, when looking for apartments to rent, do landlords usually require a reference from your current employer?

Any help or info from anyone would be really appreciated!
