Hi all,

You may want to consider coming down Friday June 30th, there is an all day event in Trafalgar Square.

http://www.canadadaylondon.com/

I'll be there playing in the street hockey 'tournament' and hoping to take home the first Trafalgar Square Cup.

July 1st in London will be very busy as it is Gay Pride day.

Of course, if you want to be in the Maple Leaf on the day, feel free. Smile

As for what Canadian beer they sell. The Maple Leaf tends to stock:

(Bottles)
Molson
Moosehead (Which runs out quick)
Labbats

(Tap)
Sleemans,erm, something
Sleemans, erm, something else. Smile

(I am from Manitoba, so not conversant with the beer from the centre of the universe that is Ontario. Wink )

Hey Mapletree.I'm in the Southwest as well and I have always sworn by Megabus. It got me to Bristol when I moved here for £1.50! I think we can still get really good prices for next weekend! Also, there is now a Megatrain that I've heard it quite good. Take a look online (it's the only way you can book) and you might find it's cheaper than you thought!

This is our first Canada Day in the UK. We have older kids and thought we might pull them out of school and go to the celebrations on Friday--anything of interest for teens/pre-teen?

I notice the Moderator hasn't heard of Ron Sexsmith. Well, may I wholeheartedly recommend all who appreciate brilliant songwriting and performing to check him out at 8.10pm next Friday at Trafalgar Square. He's made 10 superb albums in as many years, won Juno awards and been nominated several times, reaching the Canadian and other charts last year with 'Whatever it Takes', sells out venues worldwide, is loved by music business names like Dylan, McCartney, Elton John, Costello, Ray Davies (ex-Kinks), Lightfoot, Bono and many more - and is a thoroughly genuine sort of guy, no big ego, who freely mixes with fans after gigs. This is an opportunity to see one of the world's great artists, and for free!

And here's another thing(!): in April, Ron Sexsmith played to a capacity house of 2800 at Massey Hall, Toronto (akin to London's Albert Hall, as you must already know), thus fulfilling a lifetime's ambition. Before he'd played a chord or sung a word, he received a standing ovation from an audience that included many of the country's top artists, eg Gordon Lightfoot.
Beautiful melody, sensibility, craftsmanship, fine, poetic lyrics, significant themes, great voice ("the voice of an angel" - Elton John), is what you get with Ron.

Welcome to the board mikenichols!

I'm wondering if you aren't actually Ron Sexsmith! Laughing

(In my defense, I lived in the states for 9 years. I have no defense for having done that though!)
