Canada to US -- so confused!!!

Post Sun Jan 01, 2012 2:32 pm

Hi everyone,

I have been reading online for the last few weeks trying to get information about bringing my Canadian Fiance from Ottawa here to the United States. I am so confused by the different visas and what is the easiest way; They all seem incredibly difficult and time consuming. The k1 visa seems like what we would need to do but my main concern is his ability to work in the US. He is a computer professional with alot of experience and could easily find a job, I am just lost in all the information in the internet trying to figure out where to start. Any advice would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

I had left a long message, but it dissapeared! Check out visajourney.com, best FREE site for relationship visas!

you have to decide what is best for you the k1--fiance visa OR get married and file the CR-1 visa. COMPARE: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

k1 takes around 6 months from start to interview. CR-1 has sped up and is taking a bit longer. At 1 time was closer to a year! But Immigration seems to speed up, slow down, slow down, slow down, speed up,lol

You can still visit, but up to the POE officer. Ensure one has ties to Canada. I visited monthly during my CR-1 visa process

There are k1//cr-1 forums on VJ--at the top read the guides as they provide you step by step instructions! The paperwork is easy, it is the waiting that sucks!

As per the compare link--k1 is faster (usually) BUT in the long run costs more, can't work until u get EAD((employment authorization document) can't travel as freely until u get greencard or get advanced parole(AP). CR-1 takes a bi tlonger, but u have the greencard and can work right away and travel out of the USA. Read over Visajourney.com (VJ) the info is all there. Best of luck
