Canadain working for US company getting paid in Canadian

Hi,
I was hired at a company in NY to sell advertising for them on there Asian based web site. They said they would hire me as a independent contractor for a few months and pay me in my Canadian bank account before they get me a working visa. They told me this is legal and that I am allowed to work for them up to 3 months as a contractor with out a working visa is this true?

As long as you are working in canada, you don;t need a visa -- regardless of what currency you are being paid in.
