Hi,
I phoned the ford motor company and they said that in order to import a car into the USA from Canada it must be 6 months or have 15 thousand km. These are federal US rules, not Fords rules. So in other words importing a new car is out, and Ford Canada can't supply a recall clearance letter which is needed to import a car into the USA.
Anyone know where this 6 month, or 15 thousand km rule is documented? Anyone know anything about it? Thanks

Canadian-spec vehicles are usually okay in the US without modification as Canadian safety standards are tougher, but sometimes they can get iffy about minor things like labelling. The real problem I think is that it's a bit of an unknown quantity to dealers so if you ever sell it or trade it in you could have a problem, because for example it will all be in metric.
For example I have a US-made car, but that exact model isn't sold in the US, so there is no US blue book value for it.
