Canadian getting British Passport

Post Thu Oct 13, 2011 12:45 pm

Hi, everyone. I am 36 and hoping to apply for a British Passport, as my father was born in England and lived there until he was 15. The problem is I no longer have a positive relationship with him and think it's unlikely he'd even support the endeavour by providing his birth certificate. Does anyone know whether there is a work-around for an issue like this?

Thanks a lot.

You can request the bith certificate from the registrar's office in England.

The problem might be getting the marriage certificate, and the other form attesting to any previous/future marriages, but I'm sure that can be explained away.
