Hey everyone ... so I am a Canadian girl, I have been engaged to my American man for 2 years now, dating for 3 and we have realized that we can't do this flying back and forth thing anymore. We want to be together for good, and we are so lost on what steps to take.
Now at first I was just going to apply for the work visa, but eventually I'd have to come back to Canada. We then decided to go for the fiance visa, and just have a courtroom marriage till we can afford a real ceremony. Now that we are looking into it deeper, it's quite the process with lots of money to put into it. Now I already have a job there, and I'll be making a lot more money than I am right now.
Now, our 3rd option/thought is for me to fly down there on vacation again, get married, bring him back up with me here to stay for a week or so, help me pack up my stuff and drive us and all my belongings across the country to the US and apply for the green card when I get back. Now my question is, if we do this option instead of the fiance visa, will I have issues getting back into Canada if I need to see family? I am very close with my parents and sibling, and I would like to fly back a couple months after to visit for a week or so. Is this something I would have to wait for till my green card processes or because I have a marriage certificate, it should be valid? Just quite confused by all this!! Any response would be much appreciated before I make the wrong move!
