canadian having a baby in uk....what to do next?

If i could tag on, I'm currently on a WHM visa which expires in May, i am also pregnant and due at the end of march. My partner and i intend to go back to canada to raise our baby, but as my visa expires in May, and due to the info Sue-zee Q stated it'll take longer than that to register the baby, not to mention no one wants to fly 8 hours plus with a newborn, does anyone have info on what i can do about my status, do i have to do anything? any and all help is very much wanted.

Hi Zanthe,
I just e-mailed the high commission in london and they got back to me within 48 hours. Try them and they may be able to help. From what I understand, your baby will not be a UK citizen just based on the fact that he/she was born in the UK - one of the parents needs to be a citizen. So. . . .you'll need to get a Canadian passport for the baby. (you'll need one anyways if you've got a one way ticket) I did see something on the website about getting a temporary one so that might be your best bet.

The father is british, so it should be able to get dual citizenship. But i will email the high commision, it's probably the best way to figure out what needs to happen. thanks
