Hello everyone!

I just came across this site and think it's fantastic!

I am originally from Nova Scotia but lived a great deal of my life in Edmonton. I married an American girl back in '99 and moved to Colorado 8 days before September 11th. I had a job here 2 weeks after arriving. I am a Project Manager with a building company that specializes in Built Green and energy-efficient houses. I am currently looking for a better position as we now have a daughter to care for. My problem is this; I can't seem to get interviews with companies even though my experience and education might match their requirements. I am assuming this to be due to my lack of US work experience. Are there any other Canadians out there experiencing the same thing or are there any Canadian companies down here looking for a hard working Canuck?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Everyone!

Scott

What's your status in the US? Do you have a green card? Are you a citizen?

I've no idea what the job market is in other states, but here in NC where I'm at, its pretty grim. Especially in the county and surrounding counties where I live. And its getting worse every day. Another furniture factory announced last week that they'd be closing down by the end of the year. This is going to toss another 500+ people out of work, and there are just no more jobs for anyone. My husband and I are planning on getting out of this state hopefully somewhere there's more jobs.

Thanks for the reply! I am currently a permanent resident with no intention of changing that. I worked with the Provincial Government in Alberta prior to moving South but currently work as a Project Manager for a building company. The housing slump has definitely had an impact on my earnings since I work for a small company (3 people)and I am also the main sales force. Are there any websites out there relating to this?

Sorry to hear about the layoffs in your part of the country. It seems to be occurring almost everywhere.

Again, thanks for the quick response. Regardless of how things turn out, I anticipate corresponding with fellow Canadians here and abroad.

Thanks,

Scott
