Canadian living in US trying to sell Cdn car back in Canada

Post Sat Dec 11, 2010 8:16 am

I moved to the US (L1B visa) in 2008 and brought my canadian car with me. I am currently looking to purchase a new car here in the US but am having difficulty getting a good value for the trade in on my current car. The car is in very good shape and only 4 years old but because the odometer is in Kms, the dealers don't want much to do with it. I have been advised to try to sell it in Canada to get more money for it.
What are the implications of bringing the car back over the boarder to sell the car? It was made for Canada, but currently is registered in the US. Will there be duty? or taxes to import the car?
I haven't tried to contact any dealers yet to see if I can find someone to buy it, I am hoping to get some background information first.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

There will be no taxes or duty.

I did this several years ago after I moved to US.

Line up a buyer and drive it back.
