Hi, I'm moving back to Ontario in June or July this year, and am totally confused about
taxes and duty on my 2004 buick . It's my understanding that you need a Letter of Compliance from the original manufacturer, also a letter from the manufacturer saying when the car was made, blah, blah..blah, and it has to be on letterhead. Then there are fees for crossing the border, and wait until you see what you have to get to do this...I'm surprised they don't ask for your first male born child. Totally confusing, one person says no taxes and duty , considered settler's effects. Someone else told me I have to pay taxes and duty....So I'm just going to call Transport Canada. Oh, yeah..one more thing...some kind of letter saying the car has an immobilization device installed on it, and if it isn't a certain type, they won't admit the vehicle. It's ridiculous!
