i want to know if a canadian living in the us without a visa can get a social security card and or a bank account

You most likely will not be able to get a social security card, unless you have a working visa.
You should be able to get a bank account - look on the various bank websites or call a personal banker and find out. Your biggest issue will be if a bank requires a social security number or will they take a passport.

If you have no legal reason to be in the US, (ie: no visa) and do not have work authorization then no, you cannot get a social security number. You would have to show the SSA proof of legal status in the US on your application, and if you don't have it, then you won't get a number.
