Canadian marrying American in Canada then moving to USA

Post Tue Jul 08, 2008 7:16 pm

I am a Canadian living in Alberta, and I am engaged to an American living in Utah. We want to get married in December in Alberta and then move down to Utah. Does anyone know what papers we will need to enter as a married couple, and what forms we'll need to move my things down to the states? And, what forms will he need to enter Canada as a fiancee?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

He won't need anything to enter Canada really, other than to say he's not staying and show proof of that.

You however won't be able to just move to the US right after your wedding. The paperwork for a spousal immigrant visa takes about 1 year to complete. During that time you can make short visits to the US, but you can't stay.
