Canadian Marrying to US Citizen but not moving

If we travel or live abroad, we usually come back to visit right? Here's a the place to meet other "re-pats" and Canadians who have returned.

Canadian Marrying to US Citizen but not moving

Post Tue Mar 03, 2009 12:54 pm

Hi,
My daughter (Canadian) is engaged to an american citizen and they plan to marry in May this year. But she wants to return back to Canada right away to complete her employment contract which will expire in Aug. She intends to join him in October.
How should we proceed in processing her aplication.

Thanks in advance.

She can enter to marry as a regular visitor, she'll need proof she's coming back. However to get back in he'll either need to sponsor her using I-130 or sponsor her for a K-3 visa. Filing an I-130 is usually the fastest method, requires a lot of supporting paperwork. Takes best part of a year to get approval, all the info is on www.visajourney.com
