Canadian mom travelling across border with my US baby

Post Tue Jan 25, 2011 2:58 pm

Quick question.

I will be travelling home to Canada with my new baby with complete permission from his dad (notarized letter). I am currently on a TN visa which expires in July 2013.

My question is now that I have a US born child, can they revoke my TN when I go through the border as it would appear I have intent to stay in the US because of my child?

Thanks in advance!

A US child is not intent to stay, since they cannot sponsor you to live permanently in US -- a US citizen husband, that would be intent to stay.

You have the child's passport?

I am applying as we speak for his passport. I am not married so I don't have to worry about that. If I were, I still probably wouldn't tell them .

Of course, if they asked you, you would not lie, right? Even so, having a boyfriend in US is grounds for refusal of non-immigrant entry, so tread nicely.

Don't forget to also get the ball rolling on getting child's Cdn citizenship card; that takes several months, and you may end up back in canada permanently before you now it.
