Kelapstick, I sent you a PM. I too am moving to rural NV and it seems I may be in a similar situation to what you were in when you arrived.

Actually Nevada won't recognize the test from many other States either, the main one being Texas. They really don't want people getting Nevada DLs. I even wrote to the AG about it and the response I got from them basically was: "get stuffed".

Anyone applying for a Nevada license from out of state is required to take the written test. This was true even for my roommate who was from Utah. However, if you have a US license you are not required to take the road test. This is reserved for those of us with an "international" DL
