Canadian Non-residency

Post Sat Jul 30, 2011 5:07 am

I have been working in albania on 1 month in 1month out rotation for the last year. This summer I decided to bring my wife and children over and spend the summer in europe, and now we are in the process of applying for residency permits for albania for them (i already have one). We are planning on them staying for the winter and probably all of next year and into 2013 as well. We have all the normal stuff in canada ie: house, vehicles, holiday trailer, health care and all that. Will it be possible for me to obtain "NON-RESIDENCY" status in canada if I am living abroad and have my wife and children with me, and am renting out my house. What of my personal stuff will actually be required of me to sell to obtain this status for the tax savings? Do i have to "give up" alberta health care? Can I keep a vehicle and a rental house?

I was a non resident for eight of the past nine years. I hired Ross Smyth and Co. in Vancouver, he did all the work for me on the non residence status and taxes, this made it easy for me to deal with from abroad. Send him an email and say I sent you. Very reliable, experienced and inexpensive.
