I've had a little experience with this and I found that the best way to go about it is to talk to an accountant. They can figure out your residency status, give you advice, and talk you through what you need to claim and what you don't. I find it's always best to talk to someone in person about these things.
There's also a form on the CRA website that you can fill out to have them help you determine what your residency status will be.
Good luck!
