CANADIAN PARTNER VISA FOR MY BRITISH PARTNER

CANADIAN PARTNER VISA FOR MY BRITISH PARTNER

Postby deegnz99 » Sun Mar 01, 2009 2:59 pm

Hi everyone. My name is Duncan . My partner and I have been together almost 4 years . She is coming to the end of her degree here in london and we are wanting to move back to Canada . We have seen that Canada offers partner visas but are really confused about how we need to go about getting one while in the UK. We have sent of numerous emails to the canadian embassy to try and ask for help but alas, no replies.

I was wondering if anyone on here has been through this process or knows any valuable information and also how best to start the application process.

Thank you very much for any help, we are very much lost and confused.

The Canadian High Commission in London also requires some supplemental forms (which aren't legal, but anyway) you can download them from: http://www.canada.org.uk/

Hi there,

My husband is Irish and we did the whole Immigration process....you can do the same process for a partner, but you need LOTS of evidence to prove it's a real relationship (photos from the last 4 years, letters from both of your parents, friends, tickets stubs from trips together, etc.). Really. Even with being married we needed all of this.

We applied once we were in Canada, as he was Irish but we had been in Spain. If your partner is Enlgish and living in England it will be easier though.

I got all of the info from the government of Canada website and followed the instructions to a tee, being overly anal...it took over a year from inside Canada, which is a year he couldn't work, so better if you can do it from England.

Any questions, just ask. Don't hire an immigration lawyer uless you feel you're not good with paperwork at all... their costs are ridiculous. Do do everything correct though...I know of one rejected case, and of one couple that neglected to finish the process and ended up pregnant without health coverage! horrible.

Good Luck!
