Canadian Passport - applying from the US

Post Thu Jan 12, 2006 10:45 am

Hi,

I'm a Canadian citizen living in Tucson, AZ as a resident alien. I'm looking at my Canadian passport and though it's still valid for a few more months I'm wondering how I would go about getting a new one when it expires.

The Phoenix consulate (the nearest!) is too small still and does not handle passports. The Los Angeles one DOES but I'd prefer not to have to travel there. Could I do it by courier?

I've looked and looked at all the Canadian Passport Government websites regarding this, and it's a circular thing. Nowhere do I find clear information.

Could I order one from a passport office in Canada? Totally confused...

Thanks to anyone who can help! :)

The passport Canada website says that you send your application to Gateneau Quebec. 20 day processing time. That is much better than it used to be. I actually doubt that they will only take 20 days. Good luck!

Thanks!

Yeah...I looked around some more and, yes, Gatineau seems the place to send it to. I just wasn't sure.

Well, NO way I'm going to send original documents so I guess I'll have to have the guarantor sign and certify the copies. TA!
