Canadian Passport Expiring

I am moving to the UK for 2 years on my YMS Visa in August 2011, but my Canadian passport expires in 1 year.
I dont want to come all the way back to Canada just to renew it.
I know it will most likely cost me a lot of money to have to do it at the Canadian Embassy in the UK, and I can't do it before I leave Canada, since my UK application is associated with my current Passport.
Any suggestions would be great, even if anyone has the British Embassy contact phone number. I can't find any information on the World Bridge website to help me.

You can easily renew it at the Canadian High Commission of London when you're in the UK. The fee is £60 which is a about the same fee as renewing it from within Canada ($87).

If you don't want to wait, you can apply for a new passport before you leave, but you'll have to bring your old passport every time you travel to the UK because it contains your visa.

Alternatively, you can ask for a transfer of conditions (visa) into your new passport, but it will cost you more money than just wait and have it revewed in the UK.

Agrre with VW. It is not much more expensive to do it in UK, and you can wait 'til closer to expiry date, plus simpler to transfer visa while in UK.
