So you must live near Plymouth then. :P

I was just making a general comment to people in the thread, there is a big push on because of WHTI to increase the number of NEXUS enrollment centres although they're all still around the Canadian border at the moment. However it does save the hassle with getting a passport photo done.

Or I suppose you could get an EDL if you live in a State that issues them, but they're no good for air travel.

A little known fact about NEXUS cards is that you can use them to re-enter whichever country issued it from anywhere, not just the US or Canada. The only requirement is that the POE is NEXUS-equipped, which makes it impractical to enter the US from a third country with a NEXUS card generally speaking (because most of the NEXUS machines are at land POEs or Canadian pre-clearance).

However, say you travel to a third country, e.g. in Europe and you have a NEXUS card and a passport and your passport expires while you are in Europe, you can still re-enter Canada using only your NEXUS card as all the major airports are NEXUS equipped.

In fact if you're a dual-citizen of a third country, you don't need a Canadian passport at all, because you can enter Canada and the US with a NEXUS card and you can use your foreign passport if you travel somewhere else.

There is a private company in Canada that helps Canadian's with the hassels of getting a passport. They are call passporthelp.ca and save us hours dealing with the government. We have just moved to Hemet CA. and realized our passports were going to expire in 7 months. After surfing the web, we found this company. We can give them a thumbs up.

A company in Canada doesn't help those of us in the US though.

But thanks for the SPAM.

This company specializes in helping Canadians living in the United States. They saved our Canadian bacon and I know they can help you. This company has helped other of my expat friends. It will only take a phone call to find out how easy this company makes things for us Canadians living here in the States. I don't know how they do it but passporthelp.ca ROCKS!

And it can come to your house and take the photos for you? Wow, that's cool!

Most of the problem with renewing passports here in the US is to find a photographer who can and will do the photos, because Passport Canada is so picky and the photo sizes are different than US sizes. Most passport photo shops refuse to do Canadian photos, or have stopped doing passport photos entirely (including many mentioned in the earlier posts of this thread).

You must be a Canadian Government worker with such remarks. I am saying that this company told me where to get my photo in the US and reviewed my application before sending it in. I now have no problems getting my passports done. If you are willing to open up your wallet, then you get what you pay for. I now know where to go to get my pics/do you? In the US, there are many companies that offer this service. In fact the US government allows them to stand in line for you. Maybe you can ask your superiors at the Canadian Government why we can't have private companies like that. Long love free enterprises!!!!

Nope, don't work or the Canadian Government. I live in North Carolina, so that would be a heckuva commute! :p

Yes, I do know where to get my photos done, after emailing the Consulate in Atlanta (had you read any of the previous posts) they suggested Sears. Which is where I went because no one else in the state will do them anymore.

I already paid $97 for the passport renewal, plus $16 for the photos, and another $30 for the courier to get it to Gatineau, I'm not about to pay another $99 for some "service" in Canada that would have only delayed my passport processing further. The Atlanta Consulate will also review applications for you. For free.

I'm just sayin'.

It is a very simple process, why do I need to pay some one to do it for me?? I live in the USA now and had my new passport back in 3 weeks. Was even easier to get my USA passport, too all of 10 days. Why do people always want someone else to do it for them?

I just sent my renewal via regular postage to canada, lol Think it was $1.00

The service is not for everyone, it is for people that need a pssport right away or are having problem filling out the form. If you follow the thread, lots of people have problems and I don't think 99 bucks will break the bank. My time is too valuable to waste time phoning the Passport office or going for the day into a consulate. It is amazing how well these businesses do in the US but us Canadians are too cheap to have someone help us deal with the government. Seriously, $99 and everything is taken care of but we will spend $100-$200 to go out for dinner. Oh yeah, the company also said that 30% of all application are rejected.
