Canadian Permanent Resident working in US?

Post Tue May 10, 2011 8:26 am

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident and I just got a job in a canadian company. Now the thing is that it requires traveling within U.S., Mexico and Canada, programming robots and controllers. What kind of a visa should I apply to work in U.S. and Mexico? some people told me that I can not and others that yes i can. Help please!!

Genearlly, when you enter into US while working for a Cdn firm, you enter on B1 business status. Cdns enter without a visa, but you will probably need a consular visa, unless your country is part of VWP and you enter for less than 90 days at a time. Ecuador is not part of VWP, so you will need a visa.

Not all work can be done under B1, but this work appears to satisfy the requirements.

I have no idea what mexico would need.

Your firm should be handling this.

Thank you for your answer.... I have a B1/B2 visa, so you think that would be good to work there for small periods?

Of course. that is the purpose of B1/B2 visa: multiple entries for short periods.
