Seeking advice since I could not find a post on this forum for a similar situation:
1. Currently in US on H1 visa
2. Landed as Canadian PR in April 2008 in Toronto
3. Plan to visit Vancouver with family (me+wife+baby) in Jan '10 for about a month, then return to US before moving long term to Canada around April/May
4. Have not applied for baby's PR since he is 3m old and was born after we landed as Canadian PR
5. Baby is US Citizen by birth
The questions I'm having are:
1. Will we need to indicate/notify the Canadian embassy of the baby since we intend to apply for his PR visa shortly after we move there
2. Having read the sponsorship rules on the cic website at www .cic .gc.ca/ english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-who .asp I realise that I cannot sponsor the baby while in the US. However, my immediate concern is whether there will be any problems taking the baby with us on a short visit without any visa for the baby.
3. Since we are going there on a short stay, would it be ok if we do not apply for the PR visa for the baby during this visit?
4. Also, how about the stuff we carry along - do we need to fill out a form even though we are going there on a short stay? (The only notable items I can think of that we will be carrying will be cellphones, laptops and baby stroller)
For some reason I cannot seem to find the relevant documentation on the cic website that covers this scenario. If someone can advise me on this matter or point to relevant sections on the cic website, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
