Hi all,

Question about working in US as Canadian PR.

My employer is Canadian and my job is a home-based teaching job for students in Europe. My employer also has branches in the US.

I wanted to know if I could continue working in the US once I move there on a H4 visa.

I will pay taxes in Canada and intend to keep my PR status valid as long as possible.

Thanks for your time!

No, H-4 is not work authorized. It's a fairly useless visa to be honest, the only very slight advantage it has is that if you want to study in some States they allow you to pay regular student fees rather than international on H-4. But on F-1 for example you can work on a limited basis.

I'm not even sure if you can get a social security number anymore on H-4, I don't think so.

Thanks Steve! I was just hoping that as it was for a Canadian company there'd be a way around the H4. Guess not!
