Post Sun Apr 20, 2008 9:39 am

Hi, My wife is Canadian citizen and she is living in Canada but next month she will be moved with me in USA i applied her case for immigration process i have a permanent residence (Green Card). My question is she allow to work in USA with Canadian citizenship without or any other USA legal papers or she need any kind of work visa. If she need a work visa is that going to effect her immigration process delaying. If no, what kind of visa she required please help i will be very appriceiate you all.
Thanks

she will definitely need some sort of authorization from USCIS in order to work.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I applied her case for immigration process". What exactly did you apply for her? And if she is moving next month to the US, what is her status in the US? She can't just pick up and move.

ya, ur post is difficult to understand. By my reading, Your are not a USA citizen, just a permanent resident of the USA. if thats correct, it can take awhile to bring over ur Cdn spouse! Would be much faster if u were a USA citizen! Well if u call 9-12 months fast, lol (going the k3 or cr-1 route)
One just cant pick up and move to the USA,thier are proper channels to go through. Do them wrong and once can face a ban if caught!

I believe the situation is actually quite bad for permanent residents. It can take about 5 years before your spouse can come to the US. What you should look into is whether your spouse can come through another means (get a visa to go to school in the US, or through employment).

Or, if you can get citizenship in the near future, then the previous poster's idea will work.

The other option is that you can formally turn in your green card and get another one. You probably only want to do this if you can quickly get another one (i.e. you have an advanced degree and your company is willing to go through the time and expense of getting you another green card)
