Hi,
I am a student going into my second year at a University in Canada. I have recently been offered an internship position in New York but I am running into a little bit of trouble with the administrative stuff.
The employer has told me to try to get a student visa through my University. However, isn't this for students applying to the States who want to go to school there. There is also the option of the J1 Visa, but that is a very rigorous process and has a filing fee of a few thousand dollars.
The length of my internship is one month, and I'm wondering if the internship is unpaid can I just go on my Canadian passport or is there a process that must be followed.
Anyone with further information would be appreciated, as I have been trying to research for days now.
Thanks a lot.
