Canadian wanting to become a Farmer

Post Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:52 pm

Hi,

I am a Canadian citizen living in Canada. I Have purchased some 120 acres of Farm land and would like information or advice on any ways of obtaining permanent resident and to be able to live there permanently, legally without having to go back and forth 6 months at the time. I would like to know what type of visa is available to apply for in order to be self employed in the USA and farm on my land. I am not rich so a investment visa won't do, My wife currently would not think to kindly of me by planning on marrying an American Citizen just to get into The States.
I am planning to build my home there and show the government that I am self employed and running my own farming business, could that help me obtain permanent residency somehow ?

Are there any Visa options available to me for this type of business venture ?

I currently do not hold any post secondary degrees.

Thank you for any advice or help offered
