canadian wants to work in australia . questions

i am a canadian citizen ...

what exactly do i need to work in australia for 6 mths to 1 year ???

do i need to be sponsored before i make the trip .. can i fly to sydney and look for a job first ....

any help would be greatly appreciated from someone who has went though the same thing or is already there ..

You only need to pick up a working holiday visa, easily done online. It's valid for one year from the date of entry. The only restriction is that you cannot work for one company for more than 3 months. Work is fairly easy to find depending on your experience. THere are always job opportunities picking fruit, although the locations can be quite seasonal. Hope that helped.
