Canadian- Working Holiday Status Visa to Uk refused!omg

Post Sat Apr 21, 2007 9:11 pm

Hello everyone!

I have an urgent question. I am a friendly student that is looking to work in london this summer as an intern. But as I applied my Visa for the UK 3 days ago, I got it back today saying that I have been refused in the grounds that the officer thinks that I am using the Working Holiday Status just for working employment oppertunity. But that is not true! Because I am trying to travel and work if needed. So basically i wrote a letter explaining this.

I dont think I have other reasons why I should be rejected, I have enoigh money in my account, as well as my parents bank account- their support.

Has anyone ever gone through with an appeal for refusal?

It seems to be a bit more complicated as I need to actually send the form to the UK. I am so stressed and frustrated! any advice on this matter will be greatly appreciated!

hi

which visa are you trying to apply for? WHM visa? I don't see why you would get rejected because that visa is pretty simple to get as long as u give them whatever they ask for and show your funds. I got my visa in a matter of hours and within a week by mailing it out and them mailing them back to me i was set to go to London.

wow. i'm sorry to hear that. i'm surprised that they did not provide you with a more thorough explanation. if you fulfilled all of the stated requirements, there's no reason for rejection. i didn't realize it was a subjective thing.

im pretty sure that they do not issue a working holiday maker visa for 6 months or less. That is probably why it was refused if you were only going for a summer. You can always try again though.

first you say in your post that you want to go to London for the summer to work as an intern. Then you say your WHM visa was denied because they think you're only going there to work, and you say they're wrong. Which is it? Are you going on holiday, or are you going to work as an intern?

Info from the UK Visa website:
The Working Holidaymaker Scheme is an arrangement where a person aged between 17 and 30 can come to the UK for an extended holiday of up to two years. You can work but only if this is not the main reason for your stay. The holiday should be the main reason for your stay.

Hi,
I called the British High commission (well, actually their contracted company who deals with visa questions.who by he way charge 2.80/minute!) and they said that you can seek employment in the UK under 'student status'. If you intend to work more than 6 months, you then need a visa. I think this only applies to commonwealth nations though (Canada, Australia, etc.). The lady told me that all you need to do is declare you want to do this at customs when you arrive in the UK with proof of a return flight that is within the 6 months.

Hope this helps.
