Hello...I'm a Torontonian in Bristol. Just got here about a month ago. So far, I've met only one Canadian...a girl on the street from Montreal, today. Would be good to meet more.

Hi There Everyone!

My company (based out of Mississauga, ON) has offered me a relocation opportunity to Bristol to help start the local branch.
I am in Bristol for a couple of weeks and like the city very much. It has the multiculturalism of a big city, but is very accessible by foot.

They have currently offered me a contract-transfer (same pay CAD converted to GBP, same vacation 3 weeks) with 3 months rent paid once i move. I have realized upon being here for a couple of days that the offer made isn't exactly feasible to continue the same quality of life that i enjoy in Mississauga.

Does everything here actually cost double what it would at home or have i been shopping at the wrong groceries and realtors?
I thought Bristol would be cheaper than London, but it looks like that is only in terms of rent.

Are any of you familiar with relocation contracts and what is generally included?
Any help would be appreciated!

Also looking forward to hanging out with the local Canucks if i do make the move!

Hi,

Just got here a few days ago, staying in Easton for a month or so.
If anyone is up for going out or doing something let me know. I'm 32 and just here to write some music, so can get a little boring at times.

Hi,

I moved to Bristol about a year and a half ago. My husband is English and we have just bought a house here. I am finding it really difficult to meet people and was hoping this may help. I have just started my first full-time grown up job (ahh) and this has been a big adjustment for me as I have worked/managed bars since attending university and my year abroad in France. I am a very social person, I find that I have really struggled for teh first time. I have joined a gym, and was hoping to try the 10km race here in Bristol in May. If anyone is interested in a running partner (mind I am a beginner) I live in Downend.
