I'm way OUT in Bukit Jalil...aka 'the boonies'. I posted that months ago and this is the only response. Perhaps we are the ONLY TWO!!

thats hilarious! i haven't heard of "the boonies" since i was in barrie! bukit jalil isn't that far from cyberjaya ... i was living in seri kembangan for a bit, and u can take this weird road (on which you drive on the wrong side of the road, which is our right side) for a few minutes and it dumps u near bukit jalil near the petronas ... so what r u doing out here?

Hey there guys, I see it's been months since you've received a reply on this board.

I'm interested in moving to Malaysia for work, what pointers would you have in regards to this?

Should I just show up with a visa and find a job? I am finished college, and a canadian born citizen living in Toronto

Thanks guys

You "could" show up in Malaysia with a visa, but the only place you'd get a job right away is in the MSC (multimedia super corridor). Out of that, meaning in Kuala Lumpur, companies need to sponsor you for a work visa, and need a damn good reason why they need a foreigner over a Malaysian.

IMO, you should try to find work in Singapore so you have money to spend, and visit Malaysia on the weekends. In Malaysia, if you earn typical Malaysian wages, it will barely pay for our kind of lifestyle. My electric bill is up to RM 500/mo (CDN 170), local calling isn't free like home and food will cost you more than home if you wanna eat North American style most of the time (like me). So I easily cross RM 3000 a month, which is more than most Malaysians make.

BTW, I'm heading back home in Jan!
