You "could" show up in
Malaysia with a visa, but the only place you'd get a job right away is in the MSC (multimedia super corridor). Out of that, meaning in Kuala Lumpur, companies need to sponsor you for a work visa, and need a damn good reason why they need a foreigner over a Malaysian.
IMO, you should try to find work in
Singapore so you have money to spend, and visit
Malaysia on the weekends. In
Malaysia, if you earn typical Malaysian wages, it will barely pay for our kind of lifestyle. My electric bill is up to RM 500/mo (CDN 170), local calling isn't free like home and food will cost you more than home if you wanna eat North American style most of the time (like me). So I easily cross RM 3000 a month, which is more than most Malaysians make.
BTW, I'm heading back home in Jan!
