Hi there,

I too am a Canadian living in New Jersey with my husband. We moved here about two years ago and I can't wait to get back to Canada. I can't stand the heat and humidity and I am so looking forward to the cooler temps that usually settle in by the middle of October.

I hope things are going well for you in NJ. By the way Happy Thanksgiving this weekend! I have my turkey all ready to go!

Gobble gobble,

Julia,
Thanks for your message. I miss Canada a lot too and look forward to annual visits back home every summer. We moved here 7 years ago and I think I miss Canada more and more as the years go by. I agree with you about the heat and humidity. The traffic is also intolerable most times. We are definitely going to celebrate Thanksgiving Day this Monday. It helps that we will have friends from home (Hamilton, Ontario) spending the weekend with us. I hope you are finding some nice things about life in NJ as well. We have made some good friends here and enjoy many things about American life. But Canada will always be home. Take care--hope to talk again soon.

Any Canadians in New Jersey?

My name is Sarah and I work for an international relocation firm. I am currently assisting an American woman who is moving with her husband to Canada. I am looking for someone who would be interested in speaking to her for about 90 minutes Canadian social customs and etiquette. This would be a paid presentation, the fee for this presentation is $150 plus reimbursement for mileage to this woman's office.
If you are interested please email me at sarah.dimenn@Cendantmobility or call me at 312.368.2023. The meeting would take place in New Jersey.

thanks!
Sarah

Hi,
Just found this site. I have been down in the US for a long time but still miss Canada and Canadians. I am in NJ too.

Have you found anyone else?

Hi!

I am also living in NJ, Hoboken to be more precise and often wonder if there are other homesick Canucks. I have just bought the hockey package so now can watch my beloved Habs.

Has anyone had children in NJ? If so, how do you get them Canadian citizenship or a Canadian passport?

Hi alexmac (and others),

I live in NJ too, Jersey City specifically (right next to Hoboken!). To answer your question about children born in the US, the child of a Canadian citizen is automatically considered a citizen of Canada. (In actuality, the child would be a dual citizen of US and Canada.) In order to obtain the citizenship documentation, you need to fill out the "Application for a citizenship certificate from outside Canada" which you can find here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/pdf/kits/c ... T0006E.pdf

Once you've completed this form (remember that you're filling it out for the child, not yourself), you need to send it along with a copy of the child's US birth certificate, the parent's proof of Canadian citizenship (i.e., passport) and the fee to the Canadian Consulate in NYC.

Hope that helps.
