Canadians in Yorkshire?

Hi All, I have recently moved to Yorkshire.well in November but just sorted out a work visa and so haven't really had much of a social or work life. It's great here but hard to meet people and make new friends. Just wondering if anyone is around this area?

Hi, we moved to North Yorkshire two months ago. I'm Canadian and my OH is from Liverpool. North Yorkshire is absolutely lovely so I'm sure you'll enjoy living here. Do you have any children? This area is great for kids as there's loads of outdoorsy things for them to do. Wow, must feel like you guys are embarking on a big adventure coming over to the UK for a year - like me, you might just fall in love with the place and never go back to Canada (well, except for family visits!!!!) We move to a village called Camblesforth near Selby on October 24th..we are very excited! We are trading homes and cars with a UK family for the year. I will be trading my BC teaching job with a teacher from a rural school nearby the village. We were told that it is possible but very expensive to add us on to the existing car insurance unlike for them coming here. Any advice on this re insurance?
