Canadians living in Spain

Post Fri Jul 22, 2011 9:27 am

Hi,
My wife and I are going to move to Spain in the next year or so. We have been travelling for the past nine years and want to put down roots. We are in Canada now (Vancouver Island) but we miss Europe. We are looking for fellow expats who are living in Spain, who we can correspond with, ask questions and such. So if you are looking for a pen pal and are living in Spain, please write.
We can advise on Canada, Romania, Malta, The UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai), Thailand, Qatar, and Iraq (don't go there just yet!) having lived in all these countries. We are happy to help. I am Canadian and my wife is Romanian.
Cheers,
Ted and Mihaela

I'm also looking for some information about migration in Spain. But its so hard to get a one. They have a strict policy and the requirements of the visa. My family want to live also in Spain. Can you share to me your experience in getting the right visa for Spain. Thank you very much.

Other than tadders offering to help - I have found the link below is a good place to start

items listed under the legal tab may be a good place to start

Hi Ted,
We moved to Barcelona this summer, from Montreal. Barcelona, best place to live, hard place to find a job during this crisis. Job in English and French hard to get those days (huge unemployment rate, for sure they will prefer locals who don't need a work permit to get), harder if you are over 40. Could be easier if you are fluent in Spanish, along with English. If U need more details, you can write me in private. We are Romanians (me and my wife)...lol
Kindest regards,
Life should be a trip, not a destination...:)

Hi Ted,
I've been thinking lately about Malta - can you share your experience about the life there. What is your general impression when it comes to finding a job, standard of living, health and education systems as well as any other information you consider useful. Thank you in advance!

Hi Ted:

if you do end up in madrid, connect with fellow Canadians at the Canadian Club of Madrid.
They have a FaceBook page , Canadian Club of Madrid.

Cheers
