canadians / PR card holders need visa for UK?

Post Tue Sep 23, 2008 6:33 am

I believe Canadian citizens don’t need visa to visit UK, correct me if I am wrong. Do they need to make sure anything else before leaving for UK, any security clearance or some other formality?

Also do PR card holders need VISA for UK if they are going for a short 3-4 day visit?

canadian citizens normally do not need a visa to visit the uk for a period of uo to six months. however, there is a chance that u might be turned back on arrival if u are challenged by immigration and cannot convince the officers that u have a valid reason to return to canada within six months. this happened to my gf last year, since she owned no property in canada, had no family or relatives in canada and had resigned from her job with the intention of staying with me for seven weeks to look after me while i was on sick leave.

although u probably won't be asked, be prepared to show evidence that u have enough spending money for the period u'll be in the uk, plus sufficient funds for ur return journey. possession of an onward or return air ticket is not required.

Thanks. We will be going to visit relatives and sight seeing for 3-4 days, and we will have air tickets for our onward journey with us. And my partner being a PR, required UK visa.

So i guess we don't need to have hotel bookings or anything else as we will have on ward journey air tickets. Should we bring something else as a proof of return as well?
