Canadians, TN Visa's, and Cuba?

Hi there!

I'm on a TN Visa and working in the U.S. I have an apartment in the U.S. Am I allowed to fly to Canada and then go to Cuba for vacation?

You can fly to cuba. The problem is that under US laws, you are considered a "US person" since you reside there. And current law forbids a US person from spending money in Cuba or paying money to a Cuban organization or business.

Most packages that fly from canada, don't follow this law (nor should they have to) and thus your money would most likely be funding some business based in Cuba. Since your job is tied to you being able to be in US, unless you are cuban I'd avoid this at this point.

The U.S. has had an embargo against Cuba for many years so American citizens have been literally banned from traveling there and conducting business. Obama seems intent on perhaps changing this from some of his initial subtle maneuvering but the embargo is still in place so just avoid it seeing how you currently have ties to the U.S. unless your citizenship is also Cuban.
