Canuck Traveling via USA to other countries

Hi, newbie here, read lots on this forum, huge respect to everyone but I only have more questions than answers after reading on and on, so let's try to keep the answers clean and concise here.

I'm planning to go to the states for a few weeks in Janurary and fly roundtrip from NY to Taiwan late Jan-early Feb. Would this pose a problem, holding a Canadian passport flying through America to and from a different country and going back to Canada via bus afterwards? How do people with Canadians passports travel from other countries and then to America via air, is the process really restrictive? I haven't really been able to find much information on this kind of topic, and I'd prefer to know the answer before booking a ticket, thanks everyone!
