Canucks in Geneva?

Post Mon Mar 06, 2006 10:30 am

Hi:
I am actively seeking to relocate permanently to Switzerland (Geneva canton) and was hoping to correspond with fellow Canadians who have already made the transition. Would love to hear from anyone who is there/was there/intends to go there.
N.B. si preferable, nous pouvons egalement communiquer en francais

Hi mike I have been in basel for 4 years, this is where i met my husband or i probably would have gone back to canada. I love it here now after i learned german i got easier. I work at the university in basel as a lab tech. i love how beautiful switzerland is and all the cultures of french italian and swiss in one place plus that the other countries are so close by. I woulsd recommend here to anyone especially if you have no ties meaning not so much chance to become homesick. Good luck

Hi Mike from Montreal.

I too moved to Switzerland from Montreal at the end of last year. My BF is Swiss and got a bank job. If you're still in Montreal and are planning on moving your stuff - DON'T USE EUROPACK! They lost my mattress because they didn't put the identification sticker on it, then told me that they wouldn't replace it because I didn't take insurance - but they told me that I couldn't take insurance because I packed my own stuff. It was a disaster.

Switzerland is great, I really like it here. I'm taking German classes and they're coming along well - but doesn't really help because people in Zurich speak Swiss-German. The weather is warmer then Montreal, but very gray - hoping it will ger better soon. I'm hoping to take a trip to Geneva soon.

So if you're here I hope that you're happy, and if you're not here then you should come - it's great and you'll love it. Stock up on drugstore stuff as a lot of the same products are not available. Oh, and coffee too.

Hello! I
have moved from Vancouver to the Geneva area a few months back. I actually live across the border into france, 5 minutes drive from Geneva. If u end up in the area let me know, always love meeting ppl from home. I am 25 years old, female, and generally quite a good time to hang out with , hehe. And modest as well, clearly.

:) Cheers,

Erin
