Hi All,
I've agreed to sell my car to a man who lives in Victoria, BC. He plans to come to the states and drive the car for a month or so before returning to Canada and completing the registration/importation process with RIV.
He asked me about temporary tags and insurance. I told him that as far as I was concerned he could keep the Texas tags, which are current and deal with the tag issue when he registers it at the border.
I don't know if this is correct, but it seems the simplest.
Obviously, he will need his own insurance coverage to protect his investment, and to shield him from liability should he have an accident while driving the car here.
He said his company in Victoria would not insure the car until its registered there.
Anybody know where he can get insurance for the month he's traveling here?
My company, USAA, only provides insurance to active-duty and retired military.
Thanks for any advice! Joe
