Hi there,

I am in another dilemaa, I have moved with a TN to WA State for a great position. I have a leased vehicle with Toyota and they gave me a permission letter to have it out of country for 1 year. My problem is as follows:

They need a $1,000,000 third party liability and that is heavily expensive in USA under my "history". Also, what is the EXACT process to register the vehicle in WA State? and then insuring it?

Also, what if I do not? I have out of province coverage with ICBC but they state that you have coverage until you are allowed by the third party state and then its voided? Is this true? Can I continue to be covered with ICBC if I do not register in WA State? What are my options/repurcussions for not doing so?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Based on the many previous threads about leased vehicles, you're SOL and have to get rid of it and get a new one. To register the vehicle you have to get the title transferred and they won't release the title to you on a leased vehicle to register it in another country. You also have problems with Customs because technically the vehicle is not your property and therefore cannot be part of your personal effects.
