cashing in superannuation

Has anyone successfully cashed in their super upon leaving Oz?

I have read some info online for DASP (Departing Australia superannuation payments). It appears that 30-40% is withheld for tax. Is there any way to avoid the tax eg. deposit super directly in a Canadian RRSP.

Any advice or shared experiences appreciated.
