CDN had USA Social Security Number in 1960's - Lost Card

Post Sat Mar 29, 2008 1:45 pm

A friend of mine mentioned that he had a Social Security Number back in the 1960's, but lost the card 20 years ago. He still has the number. Is there any way for him to apply for a replacement card after all these years? Is there any way he could use the number to find legal employment? Or would he be denied because "a lot has changed since the '60s"?

Thanks for any info.

You'd be amazed what the SSA keeps, if you search on here I did a long thread about it. But anyway, he needs to contact the Social Security Administration. Their toll-free number only works in the US.

They'd probably be able to get him a replacement card, however, if he is not a US citizen, he'd still have to get a work permit/visa of some sort in order to work in the US. The SSN itself is not authorization to work.
